Lei. Cinque storie per Casanova is a cycle of five original works who narrate a possible counter-story of the 18th century Giacomo Casanova’s Memories.
Monologues were commissioned to five Italian female writers who give voice to the women seduced by Casanova (who narrates their seduction). We only know the version of the event given by the noble Venetian; now we listen instead to the version of the women (possibly) seduced by him. Before entering each individual premise, spectators listen for the last time to the summary of each episode according to Casanova’s version and then listen to its counter-story. The authors are Benedetta Cibrario, Carla Menaldo, Paola Capriolo, Maria Luisa Spaziani and Mariolina Vebezia.
Luca De Fusco is the director of the project; he will direct five leading ladies from the major Italian theatres specifically selected for the roles to be played (including Gaia Aprea, Anita Bartolucci, Sara Bertelà, Giovanna Di Rauso).
Born in Naples in 1957, Luca De Fusco graduated in Performance Disciplines at the Dams of Bologna. In 1980 and 1982 he participated in the “Biennale Teatro” with experimental theatrical performances directed by him. Immediately afterwards he set up his first opera performance and started an intense radio-broadcasting activity. In the ‘80s and ‘90s he started dealing with the classical theatre and specialised in the 18th century theatre. In 2000 he was charged with the direction of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto “Carlo Goldoni”, an appointment confirmed in 2005. He was president of the Association of the Italian Civic Theatres in the period 2005-06. During his seven years of direction of the Teatro Stabile he invented the major Italian Theatrical Prize (Gli Olimpici del Teatro, presented to the Quirinal) and supported various international tours. He set up many performances staged in the main Italian theatres and festivals and directed many actors including Eros Pagni, Gianrico Tedeschi, Mario Scaccia, Regina Bianchi, Ugo Pagliai, Lina Sastri, Lello Arena and many others. In addition to theatre he also dealt with operas setting them up at the Fenice of Venezia, San Carlo of Naples, Massimo of Palermo, Arena of Verona.
