With Reginella Lina Sastri presents a refined concert, closely interconnecting music and theatre, where the Neapolitan song is the only protagonist.
Since 1982, when Nanny Loy decided to let her sing Assaie – the sound track of Mi Manda Picone, specifically created for her by Pino Daniele – music has been playing a crucial role in her artistic life. She directed and played music performances, performances on the South of the world that were successfully presented on tours all over Europe and overseas, including Japan and China.
«After experiencing the season of experimentation and contamination – Lina Sastri maintains – the Neapolitan melody needs to go back to its own origins»; that’s the reason why the artist resumes the classical genre in a very simple, elegant and rigorous manner, interpreting the undying Neapolitan traditional songs in a straightforward manner, without any exotic interpretation. With her warm and hoarse voice and her sensual physicalness, she enhances the intimate essence of the lines written by poets such as Salvatore di Giacomo, Raffaele Viviani, Ferdinando Russo, Libero Bovio or by contemporary authors such as Pino Daniele.
Born in Naples in 1953, Lina Sastri is an actress, singer, author and stage artist. She worked with Eduardo De Filippo, Patroni Griffi, Armando Pugliese, Roberto De Simone, Pierluigi Pizzi, Filippo Crivelli and many others, shifting from classical works, to musical and modern theatre. She was awarded the Prize UBU and the Prize Premio Curcio. She acted in many TV fictions and movies, directed by Nanni Loy, Nanni Moretti, Gianfranco Mingozzi, Carlo Lizzani, Richy Tognazzi, Damiano Damiani, Giuseppe Bertolucci and Pasquale Squitieri. She was awarded three David di Donatello and two Nastri d’Argento. She directed and played music performances that gave rise to a new theatre-musical genre, where music alternates with acting and dance. These performances include: Lina Rossa, Passione Mediterranea, Maruzzella, Concerto Napoletano, Lina in Musica. In 1987 the first record of traditional Neapolitan songs Lina Sastri was issued. As from 1997 she devises, interprets and produces (in co-operation with Alessandro Kokocinski) performances where music turns into a visual theatre. Her latest works include: Sorelle, Vivo nel fuoco, Medea, Elettra.
