Fuensanta “La Moneta”

lamoneta-300x214 Fuensanta La Moneta Fuensanta “La Moneta” was born in Granada on January the 16th 1984. At eight years of age she began her career as a flamenco dancer in the dancing school of “Mariquilla” and later with the well known teachers Antonio Vallejo, Juan Andrés Maya and Manolete.

Still at a very early age, she performed on the television show “Veo, Veo”, produced by the Seville-based TV network Canal Sur, where she was awarded the “Prize for Scenic Arts” in the two consecutive years of 1996 and 1997. The following year she was invited to dance in the final of “Veo, Veo”, an event broadcast by Spanish national television TVE from the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo.

Fuensanta has performed in other theatres around Spain including the Isabel La Católica Theatre - Granada, the Calderón in Motril and the Alameda Theatre in Málaga. Abroad, she has taken part in the Rhine International Festival of Frankfurt, Germany.

In her native Granada, she has frequently danced in various Flamenco clubs including the “Peña Platería” and in festivals such as the “Festival of Young Song and Dance” or “The Summers of Young Flamenco Dance”. In Guadix, she was invited to perform at the Onda Radio prize presentation ceremony.

Since turning professional at the age of thirteen and until recently, Fuensanta would perform every night at the well-known Flamenco cave in Sacromonte “La Rocío”, where other famous Flamenco dancers such as Mario Maya, Manolete and Juan Andrés Maya took their first steps in public.

fuensanta2 Fuensanta La MonetaOn March the 1st 2000, she made her debut in Madrid with her own group at the Suristán club obtaining a great success, which led to the Flamenco magazine “Alma 100″ in its May edition, to chose her to be interviewed and to appear on the front cover as the most promising female dancer born in the eighties.

This year she has been on tour around the different theatres of the Comunidad de Madrid with the show “Pureza Flamenca - con Fuensanta ‘La Moneta’”.
